Finally the end of May Bank Holiday is here, all workers at the end of today will be throwing their papers in there air and saying “Lets worry about it Tuesday”, life small pleasures.

Talking of the small pleasure in life, there is a lot happening at The Queens and in Bournemouth over the Bank Holiday Weekend. Bournemouth Sevens Festival is taking place, bringing in sport and music fanatics from all over the UK and if the weather shines bright, there will no doubt be a fair few familiar faces heading down to the Bournemouth Golden Sands.

We at the Queens are very excited to be launching a Sparkling Afternoon Tea, in the wonderful Garden Lounge which opens up onto our beautiful gardens, which may I add is the perfect sun trap. Check out Living Social and purchase our current Sparkling Afternoon Tea offer receiving some traditional elegant naughty but nice treats.

On another note the Queens had a fantastic barbeque last week with a great menu of char-grilled marinated chicken, homemade burgers, ribs, vegetable kebabs and a selection of salads. We even had assorted cornettos and a bucket of bottled beer with lime wedges. And nice to see two happy chefs good work Bradley & Emil, so watch this space for future BBQ dates.

The Success of the Bournemouth Hearing Show

We at the Queens were delighted at the success of the Bournemouth Hearing Show yesterday, with the event being in its third year, it was a fantastic turnout and the latest innovations truly are a miracle for those who suffer from hearing lost.

The appearance of guest star Rula Lenska (patron of the hearing show) was a joy for those attending, her warm welcome and kind spirit offered a calming influential atmosphere around the room. Rula had nothing but praise on her visit to Bournemouth, boosting its welcoming nature and fantastic scenery.

Rula’s speech truly was exceptional, her story was both touching and honest. Her words offered advice and reassurance to those with hearing loss, and that there is help out there and you are not alone. She had expressed “Hearing is such an integral part of our lives socially, musically, radio, theatre and television” and Rula is not wrong, in her own words finding it hard to adjust and keeping her condition a secret.

Sunny Bank Holiday & A World of Hearing

We at the Queens hope you all enjoyed some Bank Holiday Nonsense, having a few tipples here and there, and relaxing by the BBQ or on the beach with the sweet smell of the fresh sunshine.
The weather is still glorious which I can image for some, going back to work can’t have be an eager move. Though with a four day week and the weather reports still looking good, the weekend is only a day closer.

Wessex Cancer Trust Ladies Night, Girls having fun……….

Last Thursday we hosted a spectacular evening for independent strong women, in order to raise money for the Wessex Cancer Trust. The evening had an array of exhibition stands to cater to all ladies needs from shoes, handbags, make-up, jewellery, health shakes, crafts and so much more.

The evening was eventful with a fantastic turnout of women from all ages, enjoying the bucks fizz, and delectable canapés, spoiling themselves and just having fun, because after all “Girls just wanna have fun”. The evening raised a substantial amount for this worthwhile local cause.

Happy St.George’s Day

Today is the day were British citizens celebrate the legendary story of St George and the Dragon. With being the patron saint of soldiers, archers, cavalry and chivalry, Farmers, field workers, riders and saddlers, and now in recent years for the scouts.

St George’s Day is the day were the Brit’s can celebrate what is special about England. There is even an ongoing group dedicated to making this special day a bank holiday, for all “thee” to enjoy. If only today was a bank holiday we could all head down to the beach, gardens and enjoy this fantastic Bournemouth sunshine.
