About The Queens Hotel and Spa
The Queens Hotel and Spa has now been privately owned by the Gordon family for a number of years. The family are a team of five strong, professional and passionate people, who in that time have noticeably increased The Queens’ sterling reputation.
In April 2011 the Gordon’s were pleased to welcome Daniel Marsh as General Manger to the hotel. Daniel, who has a lifetime of experience in the hotel industry, joined the family-owned Queens Hotel & Spa in his second General Manager post. Commenting on his appointment, Daniel said “I am delighted to be working for the Gordon family and joining an excellent team. The Queens Hotel & Spa will continue to be an ideal venue for a banquet, a wedding, a conference or a Ladies Festival”. In the time that Daniel has been working for the hotel, he has achieved a great deal in terms of growing the business and constantly striving to think of new and exciting ways to enhance our guests’’ experience.
The hotel on the whole has developed phenomenally over the years since the Gordon family have taken the lead. A large refurbishment programme has been in place modernising the bar area, reception and bedrooms with the addition of a wet-room for guests with mobility needs. Investment has also been made in creating a new bar and private bistro area in the restaurant which has made Alexander’s Restaurant multi-functional and upholds The Queens Hotel as one of the largest hotels in Bournemouth for functions and events.
Behind the scenes the hotel has invested large amounts of money to become as green as possible. New boilers have been installed to save on gas consumption and energy-saving lighting is now used plus various other ways in which to help the environment. New systems have been introduced to help reduce our consumption and all of this combined dramatically reduces our carbon footprint.
Launched in 2009 by Hollie Gordon and now one of the largest, most successful day spas in Bournemouth, Forever Gorgeous at The Queens Hotel offers eight relaxing treatment rooms, a luxury lounge and plays host too many glamorous hen parties and private functions. More recently Hollie has further extended the spa to create the ‘Hide-Away’ for more private hen days and groups looking for that extra-luxurious pamper day. Emma Dangerfield has now been promoted to Head of Sales and Marketing and we are also pleased to welcome back Jemma Derby as Reservations Supervisor.
We are also proud to announce the promotion of Donald Fraser to Head Chef after many years at The Queens. Donald’s experience and dedication to the job has retained the hotel’s reputation in the restaurant and his contemporary yet traditional culinary twist will suit all.
The Queens Hotel has been in partnership with HTP Training since 2012 whereby a number of apprenticeships have been created in the kitchen, bar, restaurant and front of house.
James Gordon MD states “The apprenticeship scheme allows us to increase our staffing levels throughout the hotel and maximise the levels of service in all departments. This ensures that our guests are looked after with the utmost priority. Employing apprentices is also great for the local area as we are helping young people into work and creating jobs for the community. This model has been so successful for everyone that we are starting to place apprentices into other businesses in the area so that others can benefit from our success.’
