Neil Lawrence from the Casulaties Union sent the following:-

“I’ve had a fantastic weekend down at Bournemouth and Casualties Union Conference. The Queen’s hotel was fantastic, very friendly and helpful members of staff.
The food was extremely tasty and enjoyable . The rooms are spacous very clean and tidy. well, recommended”

March 20th was the first day of spring 2012 and the weather here in Bournemouth is more like summer this weekend!  We are expecting temperatures of 20 degrees, the sun is shining and the forecast is looking very accurate.  To celebrate the start of spring Pimms have erected a sculpture on Bournemouth Beach the world’s largest deck chair.  Check back later today for photos.

The Daily Telegraph reported earlier this week:

“Towering over the coast, the deckchair is taller than a double-decker bus and weighs more than a fully-grown elephant.

Created by artist Stuart Murdoch, the structure took three weeks to put together and has popped up just in time for a weekend of bright sunshine.

The deckchair was commissioned by a drinks manafacturer to mark the start of British Summer Time on Sunday.

Mr Murdoch said: “It has been fantastic to see people on the beach pointing at the chair and having their photo taken with it.

“Deckchairs are so quintessentially British – everyone who has seen it has smiled and it’s great to watch people drawn to it like a magnet.”
