About The Queens Spa Hotel
The Gordon Family
The Mercure Bournemouth Queens Hotel and Spa has now been owned by the Gordon family since 2006. During this time the family have concentrated their efforts and combined their passion for hospitality into ensuring The Queens is one of the foremost three star hotels in Bournemouth.
The Mercure Bournemouth Queens Hotel has represented the ultimate in Bournemouth luxury and facilities since the 1940s. Known as The Langham Hotel, and operating as a Jewish run hotel, all inclusive packages were offered including full board and the very best entertainment.
This was until the 1970s when The Mercure Bournemouth Queens Hotel was part of a group named ‘North Hotels’. The group was owned by Quakers. The group was purchased by the Barclay brothers in the late 1970s who invested in the development of a new wing, with the primary purpose of ensuring the Hotel would be able to comfortably host Ladies’ Festival Weekends. Also, facilities were provided for a licenced establishment, as Quakers were temperance hoteliers.
From the 1980s on to the modern day, endless improvements and renovations have occurred. The Gordon family has introduced a fourth bar in the Hotel ensuring each function suite has its own private facilities. Being conscientious about the environment and the Hotel’s carbon footprint has always been an important criterion in refurbishment. This is why there has been a vast investment in the most energy efficient, ‘green’ boiler system on the market.
Various improvements to the aesthetics of the Spa Hotel include bedroom renovations, public area redesigns and the introduction of disabled facilities. In 2014, a rebranding program was completed resulting in the distinguished gold and black signage seen today.
The Forever Gorgeous Day Spa was launched in 2009 by Hollie Gordon and is now one of the largest day spas in Bournemouth. Offering nine treatment rooms and two private lounges (the luxury lounge and the Hideaway), Forever Gorgeous hosts hen parties and private events. In 2013, Hollie extended the spa to create the Hideaway for more private hen days and parties looking for an über-luxurious pamper day. Please see www.forevergorgeous.co.uk for further information.
Excellence in Service
This is so important to the Gordon family, and it is one of the reasons for running a Hotel in the first place – to deliver excellent service, through a great team and make guests happy.
Each member of staff is here for the purpose of the Hotel guests, in a carefully orchestrated manner. This is all with the intention to ensure that every guest makes the most of their time at the Hotel and in Bournemouth.
Apprenticeships and further learning are areas which are seen as fundamental for the future of the Hotel and for the industry.
